We have partnered with Prostate Cancer Gibraltar and the Gibraltar Health Authority to launch a new “one-stop-shop” urology clinic at St Bernard’s Hospital. The clinic aims to revolutionise the delivery of urology services and enhance patient experience.

As part of a matched grant of over £100,000, we funded the purchase of new state-of-the-art equipment. A Medi-Matic 2 dynamic patient examination couch will facilitate a range of clinical investigations from outpatients to surgery, and the MALDITOF (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time of Flight Mass Spectometry) will enable the rapid and accurate detection of microorganisms. This technology, which connects to an international database of infectious diseases, will allow infectious diseases to be identified within minutes instead of days, and ensure that patients receive the correct antibiotics as quickly as possible, which is critical for their care and recovery.

“This really is a momentous day for the FHA. We’ve been looking to develop a one-stop shop for  urology services for a long time. It really will save lives, increase patient experience and have an appreciable benefit to the community of Gibraltar. Thank you to Prostate Cancer, to the Kusuma Trust, for the support and the work and the funding that you’ve given us. It’s greatly, greatly appreciated.” – Kevin McGee, GHA Director General
