We are supporting north London’s The Winch Community Hub with a grant of £15,000. The grant will go towards their Covid-19 response appeal, which includes distributing food, supporting access to medicines, improving communication between vulnerable people and their families, and responding to the social and wellbeing needs of the community. The Winch is working with a local medical practice to reach residents with serious medical needs, as well as helping households severely financially affected by lockdown and families unable to leave the house at all because of vulnerability to the virus.
In particular, our grant will support emergency food provision through vouchers and deliveries to 100-150 families, care packages for at-risk residents, and SIM cards with data to help those in isolation and those without a fixed place to live to stay in touch with their loved ones and the support services they need. Through these practical actions, supportive phone calls and check-ins, we are supporting The Winch so that those most-affected by Covid-19 know that even though we must all be physically apart, they are not alone in this difficult time.
