We are delighted to announce a new grant to the Wellcome-MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, a world-leading centre for stem cell research. Our grant of £200,000 contributes towards the purchase of a state-of-the-art confocal microscope providing super-resolution microscopy. This technology will be used to deepen understanding of cell behaviour, improving the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. The microscope will be used by over 45 research groups, including some outside the Institute, working on a range of priority areas including tumour formation and tissue regeneration.
In 2019 the Institute also relocated to a new building containing state-of-the-art laboratories and bringing together the research groups to enable them to make best use of the unique intellectual and clinical environment. We have therefore also made a £10,000 contribution towards scientific and non-scientific photographic artwork, helping to create the inspiring environment for researchers and visitors.
