We are delighted to support cardiac research at King’s College London (KCL) by awarding two grants worth over £570K in total.

Our funds will support a post-doctoral fellow to research cardiac regenerative therapies for heart failure with the aim to find new ways to help heart cells regrow, potentially curing heart failure in younger patients. It will also fund a PhD position to investigate ways to target excessive inflammation after a heart attack caused by genetic mutations in blood cells. By targeting inflammation caused by these genetic mutations, it is hoped that the research will lead to the development of new treatments that can be quickly tested and used in clinical practice to improve heart recovery and prevent heart failure.

We are pleased that our contribution will support and benefit from the work of KCL’s brand-new Medical Research Council Centre of Research Excellence in Advanced Cardiac Therapies. We wish KCL the very best with both research projects and look forward to hearing of their impact!
