We recently awarded over £19,000 to Earthwatch Europe to support their work to train 70 pre-qualified teachers to include inspiring environmental education as part of their lesson plans.
Working in partnership with the London East Teacher Training Alliance, the Teach Earth training programme will inspire young educators through online sessions on topics such as climate change, biodiversity, citizen science and so-called ‘Tiny Forests’ in urban settings. 20 of the trainee teachers will take their learning experience out into nature with a weekend-residential in the woods.
With Londoners becoming increasingly aware of the nature in their own neighbourhoods over the past year, this programme is an exciting opportunity to help new teachers to feel confident about bringing the natural world into the classroom.
