We were delighted to attend the opening of the Migration Museum’s All Our Stories exhibition on 12 September. All Our Stories showcases the Migration Museum’s work over the past decade as well as new stories and artwork that highlight the critical role migration plays in our lives. The exciting, interactive and creative exhibition looks at why people migrate, their experiences of arriving and settling and questions of identity and belonging. The exhibition also marks the start of the museum’s campaign to prepare for a move a permanent new home.
All Our Stories focus on the human side of every migration story. One exhibition artist, Jiro Osuga, explains: “I really just want people to make up their own stories. Like they’re sitting in an airport. Looking at their fellow travellers, wondering where they came from, where they’re going.” A look at his work is here.
Sophie Henderson, CEO said: “We’re looking forward to sharing this exhibition with many more people and also talking to them about our exciting plans for a permanent home – more details of which feature in the section of the exhibition which asks ‘Where are we going?’. We’re so grateful for support from the Kusuma Trust which is helping to ensure this exhibition not only wows audiences, but helps us to build support for our capital campaign and a Migration Museum for the UK.”
