On Tuesday, November 19th, in collaboration with the Isola Foundation, we hosted a workshop for local charities titled “Accounting and Its Importance for Charities.” The session was delivered by Jose Julio Pisharello, a consultant in Business and Charitable Organisations. The workshop covered the crucial aspects of good governance and practice, including effective communication of financial information, ensuring financial transparency, accurate reporting, and maintaining a strong reputation and credibility.

Over thirty representatives from local charities attended the event, gaining practical insights on how to communicate financial information effectively. The discussion also touched upon the significant legal, fiduciary, moral, and ethical obligations that charities must uphold. The workshop was followed by an informal breakfast, providing an opportunity for attendees to network and raise specific questions and concerns directly with Jose Julio.

Expressing his gratitude for the initiative, Jose Julio commented, “I am grateful to Kusuma Trust and the Isola Foundation for this fantastic initiative. I was delighted to be able to participate and provide guidance. The event was very engaging and useful, both as an opportunity for local charities to learn about the importance of accounting, but also to hear about the issues that charities face with submitting financial accounts and reports. Collaborating with charities to address common challenges in financial reporting is undoubtedly key to maintaining reputation and credibility.”
