In April, the Woodland Trust opened its first visitor’s centre, located in Hainault Forest. Our grant of £70,000 supported the fit out of the space which includes local information, guides to the forest and a shop. Other new facilities at the forest, delivered in partnership with Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure, include renovated Victorian barns, updated children’s farm, and new landscaping at the country park. New restroom facilities, landscaping, and accessible paths provide more visitors with the opportunity to experience nature and connect with the forest.
Events based in the space include tree identification walks, ‘treelaxation’ walks, forest crown making, wreath making, nature detective outings and night walks. 25,000 visitors have already enjoyed the new visitors centre.
We look forward to the exciting year-round programming and the increased visitation to the remarkable forest.
