We are pleased that our recent grant of £25,000 to the London Wildlife Trust will support 3 initiatives which aim to prepare traditionally underrepresented young people for jobs in the green economy.
Our grant will contribute towards funding 20 paid traineeships. The trainees will engage in significant conservation projects in a variety of different habitats and with the community. Our funding will also deliver an annual Green Jobs Fair at Walthamstow Wetlands, which will enable up to 150 participants gain an insight into securing a job in the environmental sector. London Wildlife Trust will also recruit 3 new youth advisers, aged 16-25, for their Youth Board. The advisers will be part of a mentoring programme between youth board members and the trustees and will receive youth leadership training.
We wish them every success with this ambitious programme and look forward to hearing about the difference our funding has made.
