We have awarded a grant of over £65,000 to The Royal Institution of Great Britain to support their Science in School programme. Trained presenters will visit schools for the day to deliver two performances of a chosen science show to school groups, a CPD session for the teachers and, in non-covid times, a twilight community show for parents, carers and siblings to attend out of school hours. Schools are provided with a choice of three shows – Explosive Food, We’ve Got The Power, and Energy Live! – that can be tailored to suit any age group between 4 and 14 years.
With our support, the programme will aim to reach 21,000 children and 840 teachers from 70 schools in disadvantaged areas across London. The Royal Institution of Great Britain will also promote ‘Science in Schools’ to more London schools giving them the opportunity to apply for the programme via a “Faraday 200” box that will include a science demo kit, resources for teachers and an offer of a funded show.
