We are glad to support the Ramblers Association with their ambitious and nationally significant project Don’t Lose Your Way, which aims to save historic and unrecorded rights of way. Our £25,000 grant will recruit, train and equip 1300 volunteers to research and submit applications for Definitive Map Modification Orders to local highway authorities. This will ensure the ongoing protection of ‘lost paths’ by local councils. The volunteers will gain an understanding of historic paths, and gain research, archiving and mapping skills.
The project will improve access to our landscape, nature and green spaces and leave a fantastic legacy for future generations to enjoy the outdoors on foot. Better access will also increase opportunities for physical exercise, boost health, wellbeing and the rural economy.
