We have awarded a grant of £15,000 to the Sir John Soane’s Museum, towards their learning work. The Soane’s Museum aims to educate and inspire the public about architecture, using its unique collection of antiquities, furniture, sculptures, architectural models and drawings, and paintings including work by Hogarth, Turner and Canaletto.
Our grant will cover informal learning activities for children, including Saturday workshops for teenagers, creative holiday drop-in sessions, and a story-based programme for very young children. It also includes outreach work with London schools to enhance their understanding of architectural themes, particularly light and structural forces, and broaden their educational experience.
These educational activities will reach approximately 700 children aged between 2 and 18, and are also intended to help diversify the visitor base of the museum from within the local community.
