We have given a grant of £25,000 to St John Ambulance towards the cost of training new and existing volunteers in London and the south of England.
St John Ambulance has been deeply involved in the UK’s medical response to Covid-19, supporting the National Health Service by answering 999 calls, transporting patients to and from hospital, deploying volunteers to the Nightingale hospitals, and providing new first aid guidance to the public in light of the new threat.
Now that restrictions are lifting, training all volunteers in Covid-19 care and recruiting and training up new volunteers have become priorities for the organisation. Our grant will support both of these elements, contributing to the training of 1,360 in Covid-19 care, and 400 new volunteers in first aid by the end of 2020 so the organisation can continue its vital work in hospitals and the community.
