We are supporting Play for Progress to respond to the new challenges brought about by Covid-19, with a grant of £2,500. This funding will provide 29 hours of one-to-one therapy for unaccompanied child refugees living in London.
Play for Progress has moved much of their work with young refugees online, offering music classes and educational tutoring via video conference. But Covid-19, and the social isolation it has caused, has brought new challenges for some of the young people they work with. Some were already experiencing real loneliness and anxiety, living far from their families and navigating life in the UK without anyone to turn to for advice. These stresses have been compounded by lockdown, and individual therapy sessions will support these young people through this difficult time, with the aim that they can come out of this situation stronger than ever.
