On 10 December, Local Gibraltar charity Knit Gibraltar presented over £2,000 to local charities Clubhouse Gibraltar and Cancer Relief Gibraltar. We have supported Knit Gibraltar since 2013 and this year Kusuma donated a further £1,000 to purchase yarn that is used by members to knit and crochet blankets, hats, shawls, bed socks and children’s clothes, which are then donated to local charities.
The annual Knit Gibraltar raffle also raises money for local charities and this year we were honoured to be invited to draw the winning tickets. Each winner received a beautiful hand-crocheted blanket, and over £2,100 was raised from the ticket sales. At the annual Knit Gibraltar Christmas lunch, the members presented cheques to Clubhouse Gibraltar and Cancer Relief Gibraltar.
Anna Serra from Knit Gibraltar said: “Knit Gibraltar members very much appreciate the support we receive from the Kusuma Trust which allows us to buy good quality yarn for our projects. We enjoy our weekly meetings and being able to use the skills we have acquired over the years to make a whole range of knitted and crocheted items for people who need them. It also enables us to raise money for local charities by donating items for fundraising events as well as our raffle. The therapeutic effects of our hobbies are greatly increased for the members knowing that they are able to assist so many worthy causes”
