In 2018, we gave a grant of £100,000 to Children of St Mary’s Intensive Care Charitable Trust, to fund two isolation rooms for children with low immune systems.
These rooms opened in autumn 2019 and we were delighted to witness their success in supporting young patients during their stay at St Mary’s Hospital. Most notably, two children in a critical condition recovering from bone transplants could be treated safely thanks to the isolation room. The opportunity to enjoy private and intimate moments with their families was invaluable during these challenging times.
Thanks to these state-of-the-art isolation rooms, the unit achieved a Gold Award for Ward Accreditation. Similarly, the facilities have contributed to the fact that St Mary’s Hospital now acts as the hub for North West London’s critical care network.
